Year 2 (Class 6) - Science - Plants
Class 6 have been planting today as part of our science topic.
We have each planted a bean and are going to observe how our plant changes over the half term by keeping a plant diary.

Year 3 (Class 9) - Science - Gravity
This week we investigated gravity and air resistance.
We talked about surface area and were amazed to find out that a bowling ball will fall at the same speed as a feather when it is dropped in a vacuum!

Year 4 (Class 11) - Science - Magnets
Today we learned how to make magnets out of metal nails.
We tested how long they stay magnetised for in our own way and compared our results.

Year 3 (Class 9) - Science - Magnetised Nails
Today we magnetised a nail to test how long it would stay magnetic for.
We all took different approaches and we discussed our results and anomalies as a class.

Year 4 (Class 11) - Science - Magnetic Fields
Class 11 have looked at the magnetic field of the earth and how we can use this to find where we are going.
We used compass’s to find the direction of different landmarks in the area located around the playground.

Year 4 (Class 12) - Science - Magnetic Poles
Today we learnt about magnetic poles. We tested different magnets and tried to put like poles together.
We recorded what we found and then learned how a compass works.
We used this to do a treasure hunt of famous Leeds landmarks and familiar local places.

Year 3 (Class 9) - Science - Friction
We learnt about friction today by testing different surfaces.
We made sure we only changed one thing (the surface) and used rulers to measure how far the cars travelled.

Year 4 (Class 12) - Science - Friction
Today we investigated friction by comparing how vehicles moved on different surfaces.
We changed the surface but kept our ramp and vehicles the same.
