Year 3 (Class 8) - Maths - Crossing the Tens Boundary
Today we did practical maths. We were looking at adding ones crossing the tens boundary.
We made our original number and then counted out the ones to be added. If there were more than 10 ones, we exchanged them for another 10.

Today we investigated seed dispersal. We looked at different seeds and read a story about how seeds move.
We worked in groups to categorise the different seeds by their dispersal method.

Year 3 (Class 8) - Commando Joe's - Sinking Ship!
Today we had to get off our ship frozen into the ice before it sank!
We had to avoid the icy water and the killer whales using the stepping stones. We needed to get everyone in the team off safely but we did not have enough steppingstones for everyone!

Today we discussed reasons why people might start smoking.
We talked about peer pressure and learnt behaviour.
We acted out scenarios to show ways we can avoid risks.

On Wednesday class 8 had an amazing time taking part in an Anglo Saxon workshop.
They learned lots of brilliant facts and got to handle real Anglo Saxon artefacts.

Year 3 (Class 8) - Science - Pollination
Today we learnt about pollination. We became the bees and we visited the different flowers to collect the nectar.
When we visited, the ‘pollen’ stuck to us and was transferred to the other flowers. We discussed how this led to fertilisation and seed production.

Today we learnt how to move between our G and A chords to play along with a tune.

Today we made posters to warn people about the dangers of smoking.
We tried to encourage people to stop or not to start in the first place.
We included health risks and physical changes that can happen to our bodies if we smoke.

Year 3 (Class 9) - R.E - Guru Hargobind
This week, class 9 have looked at Guru Hargobind and how we refused to leave prison until the other prisoners were freed. We then made our own tassels for his cloak.

Year 3 are learning their 4 times table this half term.
